Resistance in Coils, Pods, and Cartridges: What’s the Difference?

Resistance is one of the most important factors in electronic cigarettes. It defines how much vapor you get, how intense the flavor of your vape juice will be, and how strong the nicotine hit feels.
What is resistance?
Measured in ohms (Ω). Lower resistance = bigger clouds, faster heating, and more juice consumption. Higher resistance = smoother draw, less vapor, and stronger nicotine delivery.
High resistance (>1.0 Ω)
Common in pod systems and cartridges.
Perfect for nicotine salts.
Provides a cigarette-like draw with smooth flavor.
Low resistance (<1.0 Ω)
Found in sub-ohm tanks and box mods.
Produces large clouds and intense flavor.
Works best with low-nicotine liquids (3–6 mg).
Coils and cartridges
Coils come in different resistances for different vaping styles.
Cartridges in pods usually have built-in coils with specific resistance levels.
How to choose?
For nicotine salts → 1.0 Ω or higher.
For cloud chasing → 0.15–0.6 Ω.
For balanced vaping → 0.8–1.2 Ω.
